STUDYING PUBLIC MANAGEMENT
I study Public Management in Universidad de Chile. I took this decision because i grew up in Iquique, watching how the politicians, or the people that work at the local goverment did't do almost anything about the maintenance of the city.
My main motivation to study Public Management was learn how to do the job that the people that was supposedly working to make Iquique a greater city didn't do. I realized that i wanted to be a certified Public Manager because it was the only way to acquire the knowledge i needed to work on the local administration of my city.
Before i entered to university, i didn't knew many thing about Public Management but that they work for the state. Universidad de Chile was my only option, because i was told by my teachers that it was the best university of the country, so i wanted the entered here. I considered enter to Universidad de Concepción, but the most similar career they had at that time was Political Science, and maybe is similar to Public Management, but i wanted to study Public Management.
The experience has been great, i have known a lot of great people with similar objectives and made a lot of friends that helped me to be more happy here in Santiago. I think that study Public Management here in Santiago has been one of the best decisions I made.
My favorite subject until now has been "Administración Pública y los Fenómenos Políticos" because is the subject for wich i have studied the most, so i have learned a lot. The most significant thing i learned up at this point is how to work in team, because in the future, when we work as public managers, we have to do it in group.
